The Grainery Food Co-op Retail Location Address: 2385 Agricola StreetHaifax, NSB3K 4B8 The Grainery Food Co-operative, located in Halifax Nova Scotia, is a non-profit, 100% volunteer run organization dedicated to selling local, organic and sustainably grown food that is affordable, tasty and nutritious. The Co-op format promotes community involvement which allows prices to be kept low, so that people of all economic backgrounds have access to healthy organic food. In addition, we strive to reduce environmental degradation by purchasing items in bulk with minimal or compostable packaging and provide the opportunity to refill products where possible. The Grainery is a wokers co-op where each member works 6 hours per month to qualify for a 15% discount on purchases. These hours are spent in a variety of ways: shift at the Saturday Historic Farmers market or at the store, bagging bulk products, ordering, managing communications, organising events or doing maintenance work.
